Stone—a raw, solid material with a symbolic inertia—represents the foundation of renewal for those seeking a new beginning. Located within a former stone quarry, the project is sheltered by a structural stone vault. This shading canopy creates comfortable public spaces within a harsh environment.
A Malqaf (a vertical windcatcher) is integrated into the design, featuring high vertical slits on its upper facade to capture prevailing winds and direct them into the heart of the buildings, ensuring a naturally ventilated atmosphere beneath the vault. This tower also serves as a lighthouse, guiding vessels through the night. The building facades are designed with a gradation of privacy: the frequency of openings dictates the level of communal use, with more transparent structures serving as shared social spaces.
