GARDEN COURTYARD
2016 / SAINT-GERMAIN (78), FRANCE

2016 / SAINT-GERMAIN (78), FRANCE
The courtyard at 9 rue des Ecuyers possesses a unique identity and many admirable qualities. The following project proposes to complement the subtlety of this architecture with simple design elements (flowerpots), "living" materials (terracotta, wood, metal), and a vibrant plant palette that changes throughout the seasons. This approach aims to engage with and enhance the highly structured, mineral environment. The design takes into account the improvements already initiated by the residents and lends coherence to the entire courtyard. I wanted this design to be reversible (allowing for the removal or relocation of the pots) so as not to impose a fixed design and to give residents the opportunity to continue to personalize the courtyard in the future.
