A Simulation to Awaken the Senses
"What matters here is not the authenticity of this landscape, but rather that its simulation awakens the senses of the consumer," explains Alexandre Marguerie. In a world where technology and media saturate our daily lives, distinguishing between the real and the artificial becomes increasingly difficult.
Inspired by the work of biologist Nikolaas Tinbergen, who demonstrated that artificial sensory stimuli can hijack primitive instincts, "Modénature" explores how modern environments shape our desires and perceptions. The installation questions the limits of our ability to replicate nature and the resulting impact. By simulating natural sensations, the work advocates for a return to the real at a time when understanding our relationship with the Earth is more essential than ever.
Cultural Context
"Modénature" is presented within the framework of "Nuits Blanches" and "Rendez-vous aux Jardins," two events dedicated to uncovering unusual venues and showcasing unique cultural interventions. The installation will remain in place throughout the Olympic Games, a period during which the Embassy will host numerous high-profile events.
